Lab Technician I (Swing Shift Only) Sorenson Genomics, L.L.C.  
World-class genomics laboratory and global industry leader in DNA analysis seeks to fill multiple swing shift positions for Full Time LABORATORY TECHNICIAN I. Successful candidates will process test specimens through DNA quantitation, normalization, multiplex PCR for short tandem repeat analysis, mtDNA sequencing & data collection.

Shift hours are: 2:00 pm to 10:30 pm

Required:
• High School Diploma with 4+ years experience in Molecular Biology Laboratory
• AS Degree in Biotechnology or MLT Certification or BS Degree in related field.
• Familiar with molecular biology lab testing, analysis and reporting

Preferred:
• BS in Biochemistry or Molecular Biology or Biology or related field
• 2+ years experience in a lab with this emphasis
• Familiarity with Molecular Biology Laboratory testing, analysis and reporting.
• Computer and Microsoft applications proficiency

Forensic DNA Analyst I Sorenson Genomics, L.L.C.  
Sorenson Forensics is seeking applicants for the position of Forensic DNA Analyst to work in our Salt Lake City laboratory. Sorenson Forensics is a leading provider of casework and validation services for federal, state, and local crime laboratories and Officers of the Court in individual criminal cases. Candidates must have completed a comprehensive forensic DNA training program to include a range of samples typically encountered in forensic casework. Candidates will be asked to participate in our Validation Services product. Candidate may be required to travel to a public crime laboratory for validation services assignment, assignments will typically last 2-4 weeks in a row. Candidates will be flown home or to any major city in the continental U.S. each weekend while on assignment.

REQUIRED:
• B.A. or B.S. degree in a biology, chemistry, or forensic science related area. College course work or classes covering the subject areas of: (a) biochemistry, (b) genetics, (c) molecular biology, and (d) college course work or training that covers the subject area of statistics and/or population genetics. • Qualified candidates must meet the FBI’s Quality Assurance Standards for a technical analyst/examiner (Standard 5.3).

Associate Laboratory Director-DNA Technical Leader Sorenson Genomics, L.L.C.  
GENERAL FUNCTION
This position requires extensive knowledge of all aspects of forensic sample processing and reporting. A thorough background check and genotype profile is required prior to handling criminal evidence.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
The essential duties of the Associate Laboratory Director- DNA Technical Leader include, but are not limited to the following:
1) Serve as the Technical Leader, as defined by the DNA Advisory Board.
2) Develop and evaluate all laboratory methods and protocols for forensic casework.
3) Ensure all technical staff is properly trained on existing and new technical procedures.
4) Participating in proficiency testing in accordance with DAB standards.
5) Identify problems that may adversely affect test performance or reporting of results.
6) Evaluating and preparing a written opinion concerning the identification and comparability of biological samples; and testifying as an expert witness in a Court of Law.
7) Supervision over lower level scientists, professional and/or technical staff.
8) Work is performed under limited supervision.
9) Update personal skills and knowledge to remain current and become efficient and proficient in the position.
10) The employee may be expected to perform other duties not listed in this Job Description.

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Master's degree in a biology-, chemistry- or forensic science- related area and successfully completed 12 semester or equivalent credit hours from a combination of undergraduate and graduate course work covering the following subject areas: biochemistry, genetics, molecular biology, and statistics or population genetics.

A minimum of 4 years experience is required in a genetic laboratory to include at least 3 years experience in a forensic DNA laboratory as a qualified analyst on forensic samples. Experience with laboratory operations and process development preferred. Comprehensive knowledge of forensic laboratory certification and compliance. Previous supervisory experience preferred. Must have strong understanding of PCR Stochastic Effects and how they effect the interpretation of data.

COMMUNICATIONS/LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Exemplary written and oral English communication skills. Ability to read, analyze and interpret complex documents, standards, and procedures. Ability to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructions. Ability to effectively communicate solutions to problems and work in a team
environment.

ABILITY TO MANAGE:
Must possess the ability effectively manage multiple projects at the same time.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
1. Position requires excellent attention to detail, good communication skills, the ability to troubleshoot problems using technical and creative solutions, and the ability to multitask.
2. Strong computer and skills with systems used for DNA analysis.
3. Excellent laboratory skills and equipment knowledge.
4. Computer programming experience would be beneficial.

Sorenson Forensics, a division of Sorenson Genomics, is a leading provider of casework and validation services for federal, state and local crime laboratories and Officers of the Court in individual criminal cases. We are currently seeking an experienced Forensic Robotic Engineer to work at our Salt Lake City, UT Biotechnology laboratory (would consider Independent Contractors for this position). Our services are available to assist a crime laboratory in performing comparison studies between or among multiple extraction methods and multiple STR Amplification kits and validating liquid handling robots to improve crime lab efficiencies.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Physics, Biology, Bioinformatics or related technical field.
 Knowledge of biotech laboratory equipment, especially liquid handling robots, and molecular biology methods.
 Must be willing to travel approximately 25% - 50% to a public crime laboratory for validation services assignment. Assignments will typically last 4 weeks in a row. We will fly you home or to any major city in the continental U.S. every weekend.

Overall, the position involves working with the Case Production Team, the case review staff as well as customer service personnel to manage the flow of casework from the laboratory to our clients. REQUIRED

We are currently seeking an experienced Forensic Validation Scientist to work at our Salt Lake City, UT biotechnology laboratory. This position will be responsible for performing forensic DNA Analysis procedures for the purposes of fulfilling validation services. A thorough background check and genotype profile is required prior to handling criminal evidence. Must be willing to travel at least 50% of the time.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
 Bachelors Degree in Biology, Chemistry or Forensic science related area
 College course work or classes covering the subject areas of (a) biochemistry, (b) genetics, (c) molecular biology and (d) college course work or training that covers subject are of statistics and/or population genetics
 Minimum of 6 months experience in genetic laboratory OR Masters Degree (with same coursework requirements as above) and no experience in a genetic laboratory

Genetic Data Analyst Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation  
The Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to building the world's foremost collection of DNA and corresponding genealogical information, is currently seeking a Genetic Data Analyst to screen and report DNA fragment and sequence data to help grow its databases.

The principal responsibility of the analyst will be to examine and report DNA fragment and sequence data while maintaining high throughput rate and accuracy. The analyst must maintain appropriate documentation of data observations, data anomalies and characteristics of the genotyping panels. The analyst will also assist with troubleshooting, new process implementation, and researching some population-genetics questions.

Required
- BS degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
